Ask your PCC
Elections on 6th May include Police Crime Commissioners (PCCs) for some areas of the UK (Wales and England excluding London and Manchester). If you live in an area electing a PCC you can take this opportunity to ask them how they will deal with misogyny and and help women victims of crime, including asking if crimes will accurately be recorded by sex rather than gender identity.
Wight DASH putting women first
Wight Dash is an organisation that supports women affected by domestic abuse, trauma and mental health issues on the Isle of Wight. They were accused of transphobia after a transwomen applied to work with them. Wight DASH have stood up for women and employ the single sex exemption which is legal and important. Women need single sex spaces, most importantly women dealing with trauma and domestic abuse. Domestic abuse charities have been put under pressure this past year with multiple organisations including RISE in Brighton losing funding for not being inclusive enough of males. Wight DASH are doing vital work for women.
There is a petition from Women’s Aid asking that local authorities fund specific Domestic abuse services for women. It’s nearly at 10’000 signatures.
