Undercover Telegraph Reporter exposes GenderGP’s “Loophole”
The Telegraph has reported how GenderGP uses a “loophole” to prescribe puberty blockers and cross sex hormones to children, without parental approval. This is after the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust postponed all puberty blocker referrals, following the High Court’s decision that children could not give informed consent.
The newspaper reported how an undercover reporter posed as a 15-year-old girl in order to receive the drugs. After only three online appointments, she was prescribed testosterone, which was signed off by a doctor in Romania. A young woman who takes this controlled drug could end up with a permanently altered body, and be rendered infertile. Despite this, Gender GP are “flouting” NHS rules by using overseas doctors to issue prescriptions which can be used in the UK.
Gender GP confirmed to the Telegraph that they believe children are capable of providing “informed consent” and the clinic apparently stated that they would be willing to prescribe cross-sex hormones to 12-year-olds.
Another Academic Speaks Out
Dr Paul Greenall, a lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University, has been accused of being anti-trans after tweeting that transwomen are not women. Dr Greenall has previously stated “transphobic” facts such as only women have periods and men cannot give birth.
The doctor, who teaches forensic psychology and specialises in sexual offenders, appears to have deleted his Twitter account after being contacted by The Tab newspaper. The University have told the paper they are taking the matter seriously and investigating the issues, which were initially raised by a student Facebook group.
