Fighting for women’s services
There will be an online Woman’s place meeting on the 15th April covering the fight for women's specialist services.
Women’s services have taken a big hit recently with multiple places losing vital funding. All this at a time when domestic violence has increased and more and more women are in need of support. Refuge’s helpline has recorded an over 60% increase in women seeking help since the start of the pandemic.
Despite this a domestic abuse charity RISE in Brighton had funding removed for not supporting men.
In the same month, North Lanarkshire council removed funding from a specialist service, Monklands Women Aid.
If we lose our Women-led services and the vital expertise of those working within it women will suffer as a result. Support for these services has never been more important.
