England Rugby consultation
England Rugby are holding a consultation on their transgender policy. Whereas World Rugby have taken the decision to keep the elite game female only, the Rugby Football Union (RFU) has taken the decision to allow males. Fair Play for Women have detailed how this current policy is dangerous for women and girls, and is in direct conflict with the RFUs own sex-based safeguarding rules which does not permit mixed sex rugby over 11 years of age. Women and girls are not only going to lose out on places and opportunities within their sport, but their safety is being compromised.
The organisation Sex-Matters would also like to hear from women with experience in Rugby to get in touch.
Women have fought for their right to take part in sports and still face barriers and inequality. Losing the female category will have a devastating effect on the next generation of athletes as well as for women who want to take part in recreational sport safely and fairly.
Action
You can respond to the survey, until 16th April.
