A Stonewall letter for your Police and Crime Commissioner
Police misinterpretation of the Equality Act and vexatious use of legislation to inhibit freedom of speech in a bid to “police” social media feuds must stop. Following Dorset Police’s departure from Stonewall’s Diversity Champions Scheme, now is a particularly pertinent time to write to your newly appointed Police and Crime Commissioner to ensure they are aware of the negative attention the charity is currently attracting, and why. Call on your PCC to:
Engage with their Chief Constable to execute their team’s immediate exit from Stonewall’s Champion’s Scheme.
Implement an immediate review of all policy documents that have been written, co-authored, or influenced by Stonewall with the critical oversight, challenge, and assurance of an independent review group, i.e., equality and discrimination legal specialists.
Reaffirm the Code of Ethics in relation to the restriction on political association to all their police officers and affiliated organisations.
