Update on Conversion Therapy Ban
Yesterday, MPs debated the LGBT Conversion Therapy petition, which seeks to make running conversion therapy in the UK illegal.
Of course, the vast majority of people agree with this with regards to LGB conversion therapy, but problems arise when the T is included.
The debate itself was very disappointing. Concerns around gender dysphoric young people being transitioned as a form of conversion therapy were not addressed. However, despite tremendous pressure from gender extremists, Kemi Badenoch’s understanding of the issues surrounding the affirmation approach to gender dysphoria, and the wider debate, meant that she stood firm.
Kemi stated that the findings of existing research need to be reviewed before action is taken, so that the impact on wider rights and freedoms is discovered. She added that the Government’s next steps will be set out soon.
International Women’s Day saw the launch of two consultations
