The Countess didn’t fight for this
The Countess didn’t fight for this is an Irish women’s group that advocates for women and children. They campaign to amend the Gender Recognition Act (GRA) and advocate for safeguarding and safe prisons for women.
This Friday the Countess group are holding a webinar on mixed sex prisons at 5pm.
“In Ireland we send convicted sex offenders, paedophiles and violent male criminals to the women's estate when they acquire a gender recognition certificate. Likewise, in the UK and the US. How did this policy come about? Do people agree with it? How does it impact female prisoners? How can it be overturned? We bring together the former governor Rhona Hotchkiss, the prison expert, Gearóid O Loingsigh and survivor and organiser Heather Mason for the first in our prison series.”
Call to action
The webinar is tomorrow, Friday 26th March. You can register here.
