New Group: Parents for Education

We are excited to announce that we will shortly be launching a new group with two main aims:
1. To provide peer support to parents and carers who are concerned with the prevalence of gender identity ideology in education;
2. To support education providers and policy makers in ensuring children's experience in school meets relevant legislation and government guidance.
Our work:
We object to unfounded beliefs about ‘gender identity’ influencing school procedures, undermining safeguarding, equalities legislation, fairness, science and reason. Inaccurate, inappropriate curriculum content and inadequate school policies negatively affect children’s healthy development, their safety, and their education.
We recognise dangers to children of promoting ideas about gender identity as fact, from nursery upward, across the curriculum and school culture. Children should be protected from unscientific ideology and from the embedding of stereotypes that may lead them to think their personality or their body is in need of changing.
We are concerned about increasing acceptance in education of ideas stemming from the intellectual tradition of “Queer Theory” that encourages blurring of categories and breaking down of children’s boundaries and ordinary understanding, using age inappropriate content geared towards particular adult interests and experiences, in name of inclusion and diversity.
We support parents challenging instances of poor provision in schools; we offer practical assistance and expertise; we empower parents to ask questions about matters that can be seen as controversial, or difficult to discuss openly, with reference to current law and guidance.
We work with schools to promote existing legislation that should be implemented in their pupils’ interests and to meet statutory obligations. We are ‘critical friends’ to the education sector just as school governors are critical friends to their schools. We highlight shortcomings, press for necessary change, and champion successes.
We undertake research to identify any shortcomings in the present legislative framework and we use evidence from across the country to campaign and lobby politicians and education bodies for better monitoring, guidance, training and regulation.
We are parents supporting parents and we are all volunteers. We are unaffiliated to any particular political party or religion.
