NEWS FROM THE WELSH RESISTANCE
It’s been a busy week in Gender-Critical world (with us now being worthy of respect in a democratic society) and no less busy in Wales.
Our friends Merched Cymru wrote to Welsh Government to formally request that they leave Stonewall’s Diversity Champions scheme. The accompanying blog from Merched Cymru contained shocking revelations about just how invested they are in Stonewall – as well as some £6000 in membership fees, they also gave the controversial lobby group some £158,000 in funding in just one year. No wonder women’s words, rights and spaces are disappearing in Wales – all this from a self-described ‘Feminist Government’.
There was also much to reflect on with Maya Forstater’s win and its implications for Wales. Like the rest of the UK, women and men have suffered silencing, lost work or positions and have been ejected from events for politely expressing concerns. The recent cases of the bullying of Helen Mary Jones of Plaid Cymru and that of Dr Dilys Davies out of Yes Cymru for expressing gender-critical concerns may well be unlawful, as well as completely unacceptable.
The focus of the Welsh Resistance now turns to the current consultation on ‘Relationship and Sexuality Education’ which closes on 16th July. The proposed curriculum is heavily steeped in Queer Theory, written from an ideological perspective and lacks the evidence-base and content that the children of Wales deserve. A strong pushback is needed on this and your responses it would be welcome.
