Stop the Transfers of Men to Women’s Prisons in California

The Women’s liberation front (WoLF) have a petition to Stop SB 132, a dangerous and misogynist bill which allows incarcerated men in California to be housed and searched in a manner “consistent with their gender identity” rather than their sex. This is putting women in serious danger and has led to over 261 men including sex offenders to request transfer. It is now being reported that Californian prisons are introducing new pregnancy resources.

Women II Women a group of formerly incarcerated women who now advocate for incarcerated women have written an open letter to “To Those With the Power to Make it Stop”

“Since Senator Scott Wiener and Governor Gavin Newsom passed SB 132, “The Transgender Respect, Agency and Dignity Act” we have received hundreds of distressed messages from our sisters inside. They are scared, angry, confused and in disbelief that legislators completely left them out of a decision that affects their mental health and safety 24 hours a day. We started working on getting this information moving and into the ears of the right people. And the calls and cries for help kept coming...”

This is cruel and unusual punishment and a complete disregard for women’s safety and dignity. Women who have no way of protecting themselves and have no say in their living conditions. Please highlight what is happening in anyway you can and sign the petition in support.

It has also attracted many false and damaging allegations from people who have not read the book and are trying to smear Helen’s reputation.
